Stephen Coughlin is to my knowledge the only Islamic Law scholar on the Joint Staff...He is a lawyer by training and a reserve Military Intelligence Officer. His first interface with Islamic Law began in Pakistan where he was investigating and prosecuting an intellectual property rights case about 10 years ago. Reviewing Pakistani property rights law, he kept seeing footnoted references to the Quran and sharia law...
I have long argued and wondered why our military from senior leaders down to tactical level are so unread and unstudied on Islam, jihad in Islam, even the topic of terrorism. I have often contrasted this unconscionable wartime state of affairs, with the due diligence the US military showed since I was a cadet at West Point 30 years ago, where we lived, ate, slept and drank Soviet warfighting doctrine...it was the threat we oriented on and we developed our own doctrine around in the early 1980's. Can anyone show me where the equivalent of the Soviet threat doctrine series for the global war on terror is published? It has not been done.
Yet today we are in the process of prosecuting war, that from doctrinal perspective, we fundamentally do not understand...we have not studied Islamic Law and few have seen or heard of even the English translation of it that has been in print for years...This failure of intellectual preparation is a leadership failure...
Coughlin has briefed senior Marine Corps leaders and staff and has presented his thesis in various military educational venues...by all accounts the veil of ignorance is lifted for all but only a few who are afraid to face what Islamic Law, doctrinal Islam, says and means with respect to jihad and how it plays out across the Islamic world...
What Coughlin did was provide the epiphany in his over 300-page Joint Military Intelligence College thesis titled, "To Our Great Detriment: Ignoring What Extremists Say About Jihad" ...In short, he argues we have in fact intellectually pre-empted our military decision making process...Strategically we have failed to do that by substituting policy for military analysis, for substituting cliché for competent decision processes.
We began on September 12, 2001 with "Islam is a religion of peace," which soothed ideological sentiments but has failed us strategically, short-stopped the objective, sytstemic evaluation of the threat doctrine.
"Islam is a religion of peace" is not and cannot be the point of departure for competent military or intelligence analysis...it is in fact a logical flaw under any research methodology...you have stated the conclusion before you have done the analysis.
If one has studied the implication of the Holy Land Foundation trial discovery documents as I have, as a former DIA senior military analyst, and understanding as Bill Gertz has written in his book about the dismal record of our counter-intelligence one has to wonder and question the extent we are in fact penetrated in government and academia by foreign agents of influence, the Muslim Brotherhood, Islamists and those who truly in essence do not share our social compact.
The termination of Stephen Coughlin on the Joint Staff is an act of intellectual cowardice. We can only hope he can be positioned in his next venue to continue to educate our military for the fight we are in -- if we don't understand the war and the enemy we are engaged against we remain vulnerable and we cannot win. No victory in the war on terror.

But Bashir Maan, "one of Scotland's leading Muslims," says security services are overreacting, because it is impossible to convert immoral Westerners to such a strict moral code as Islam. Aside from the insulting undertones of this -- Western non-Muslims are semi-bestial, immoral, out-of-control louts who resist what is good and pure -- it is absurd. Many of the converts are in fact reacting against Western materialism and relativism. Others, straitlaced morals aside, are attracted by the prospect of religious sanction for polygamy. HUNDREDS of British non-Muslims have been recruited by al-Qaeda to wage war against the West, senior security sources warned last night.
As many as 1,500 white Britons are believed to have converted to Islam for the purpose of funding, planning and carrying out surprise terror attacks inside the UK, according to one MI5 source.
Lord Carlile, the Government's independent reviewer of anti-terrorism legislation, said many of the converts had been targeted by radical Muslims while serving prison terms.
Security experts say the growing secret army of white terrorists poses a particularly serious threat as they are far less likely to be detected than members of the Asian community.
Since the 7/7 and 21/7 London bombings, police and intelligence services have had considerable success in identifying, disrupting and stopping extremist plots. As a result, groups such as al-Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Harkat-ul-Mujahideen have been forced to change tack. Converting white non-Muslims has been one response.
The trend is well established in the United States. American-born Adam Gadahn is one of the FBI's top 10 most-wanted terrorists after converting to Islam and rising through al-Qaeda's ranks to become a prominent spokesman.
One British security source last night told Scotland on Sunday: "There could be anything up to 1,500 converts to the fundamentalist cause across Britain. They pose a real potential danger to our domestic security because, obviously, these people blend in and do not raise any flags.
"The exact figure of those who have converted to Islam and turned to terror is not precisely known. Not everyone who converts becomes radicalised and it may be that just two-fifths go down that path, but it remains a significant and dangerous problem."
Carlile said he was not aware of specific numbers, but confirmed to Scotland on Sunday that Whitehall was aware of the new threat and was actively tackling it. He said: "These people are an issue and are potentially very dangerous. There have been cases of non-Muslims converting before, and of these, Richard Reid, the so-called Shoebomber, is the most obvious example.
"They are more difficult to detect and the security services are right to place some focus on this issue."
Carlile said the majority of converts were targeted when they were in prison: "These (converts] are outside the standard type of profile which most police forces would have of a terrorist, which is male, young, and of Middle Eastern or Asian appearance. That is why they are so potentially dangerous."
Carlile added: "The Home Office has a lot of money, millions of pounds, which is being put forward for communities and fighting radicalisation. There is no question how tackling this issue is best achieved: it is achieved at a community level."
Security experts say radical Muslims in prison have become adept at identifying potential new recruits to their cause. Those in custody for the first time, the young and the lonely are particularly susceptible.

* You don’t have to take up arms and go around killing the Jihadists. That’s the Jihadists’ way of dealing with us and anyone they don’t approve of. Decent humans value life, even the life of a Jihadist. By contrast, the Jihadists have no compunctions at amputating limbs, stoning, beheading and hanging people even en mass. The brutal mullahs ruling the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomed the new-year by hanging thirteen people, one of them the mother of two young children. We need to dry up their sources of support and beat them in the battle of ideas. We need to show them the fallacy and danger of their pathological belief.
* Fight to end the deadly practice of political correctness. Truth, only naked truth, can set us free. And freedom is our greatest gift of life. Life without freedom is death disguised as life. Remember Patrick Henry’s cry: Give me liberty or give me death. We must fight for life, for liberty and freedom.
* Demand that politicians, Islamic apologists, and paid-for media do not abuse freedom by lying about Islam. When these people portray Islam as a religion of peace, they are lying through their teeth. Just take a quick look at Islam’s history as well as what is happening today in the Islamic lands. Islam is not a religion of peace and it has never been. Islam is violent, oppressive, racist, and irrational at its very core. It is treachery for people to present it as otherwise, either out of ignorance or because of their own personal reasons.
* Challenge your leftist professors who may be retained by Islamic front organizations to trumpet Islam’s virtues. Demand transparency from hired lobbyists and the liberal mainstream media. Sadly, a percentage of people in Western Democracies are born alienated. These people seem to a have congenital hatred of their own societies; they ally themselves with any and all people and forces that aim to destroy our cherished way of life, and they live by the motto: the enemy of my enemy is my friend. They eagerly join forces with the Saddam Husseins and Hugo Chavezes of the world.
* Demand that Islamic literature, including the hate and violence manual called the Qur’an, be purged of all violent and hate spewed toward non-Muslims. Is it too much to ask that non-Muslims not be targeted for hate by the so-called sacred religious text? What kind of religion is this? Religion is supposed to bring people together, and not put them at each others’ throats. The Muslims must be made to understand that and they must reciprocate the tolerance that the non-Muslims voluntarily afford them.
* Do not allow any special privileges whatsoever granted to Muslims. Demand that all Muslims have their first and foremost loyalty to the United States and its Constitution and not to the Islamic Ummeh, the Qur’an, and the shariah law. Europe is rapidly buckling under the pressure of Islamism. Just a couple of examples: Germany has legalized polygamy to placate Muslim men, Italy is forced to plan separate beaches for Muslim women
* Demand that none of the barbaric provisions of Islamic sharia be practiced. Just because a woman is born into a Muslim family, that shouldn’t force her to lead a subservient life to a man, for example. All family matters and disputes, without exceptions, must be adjudicated according to the civil laws of the country.
* A Muslim is, first and foremost, an Ummehist, a citizen of international Islam. So, when a Muslim takes the United States’ Pledge of Allegiance, he is either ignorant of the implications of his pledge or is lying willfully. Sadly enough, taqqiyeh (lying, or dissimulation) is not only condoned, it is recommended to the Muslims in their scripture. Hence, a Muslim can and would lie without any compunctions, whenever it is expedient.
* Require that the large number of recent arrival Muslims be carefully vetted for their terrorism and Jihadists backgrounds and beliefs. Many recent arrivals from places such as Somalia, Iraq and Pakistan come as refugees and bring with them their pathological anti-American system of belief. It is criminal to admit these refugees without demanding that they completely renounce their allegiance to the hate dogma of Islam. Those diehard devotees of Islam should make any of the eighteen or so Islamic countries home, rather than invade the secular societies and aim to subvert them.
* Demand that Muslims, without the least reservation, adhere to the provisions of the human rights. Muslims, by belief and practice, are the most blatant violators of human rights. We hardly need to detail here Muslims’ systemic cruel treatment of the unbelievers, women of all persuasions, and any and all minorities across the board. To Muslims, human rights have a different meaning, and its protective provisions are reserved strictly, primarily for Muslim men.
* Go and talk to Muslims, particularly the young and the better educated, about the horror and the fallacy of a primitive belief that has been handed down to them through an accident of birth. Show them the magnificence of freedom, in all its forms; the indispensability of tolerance for all; and, the futility of clinging to an obsolete hodge-podge of delusional ideology. The onus is clearly on the Muslims to prove the validity, utility, and sanctity of the belief they intend to impose on all of us.
* As for democracy, our cherished way of life, Muslims have no use for it at all. Muslims believe that Allah’s rule must govern the world in the form of Caliphate: a theocracy. Making mockery of democracy, subverting its working, and ignoring its provisions is a Muslim’s way of falsifying what he already believes to be a sinful and false system of governance invented by the infidels. Reason, if you can, with the Muslims that their belief is an outright rejection of the greatest gift of life: Freedom.
* Support financially and in every other legal way those individuals and organizations that are fighting the Jihadists’ relentless encroachment. Many European countries are already on the verge of capitulation to the Islamists. The Supreme Guide of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei, confidently proclaimed recently that Europe will be Islamic in a dozen years. He has good reason to say that. Muslims are forming states within states in much of European towns and cities. In Britain, for instance, non-Muslims are in serious danger entering Muslim neighborhoods.
In conclusion: Folks, get off your duff. Stop saying, “let George do it.” Neither George the President, nor the “other guy” George can do it by themselves. This is a battle for survival that every one of us can help wage. Let’s get on with it before, if not you, then your children and grandchildren end up under the barbaric rule of the Jihadists.

Israeli terrorism experts at the Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center (ITIC) in Herzilya called THAICOM’s decision to broadcast the channel “an outrage,” saying Hizbullah would be able to spread its propaganda far more effectively with THAICOM’s help. Al-Manar is currently broadcast by two Arab stations and reaches most of the Middle East and some of Europe. THAICOM reaches viewers in Australia, Africa, Asia and most of Europe. Among the nations on those continents are Indonesia and Malaysia, both with extremely high Muslim populations.European satellites dropped Al-Manar in 2004 because of its connection to terrorism, said ITIC head Dr. Reuven Erlich, “so Hizbullah has found a way around it.” In December 2004, Al-Manar was added by the U.S. State Department to its Terrorist Exclusion List. “It’s a war,” said Erlich. “Al-Manar spreads Hizbullah and Iranian values of radical Islam.”Strong Israeli-Thai RelationsIsrael has enjoyed full diplomatic relations with Thailand since 1958. JulianThai satellite company THAICOM has begun broadcasting the Hizbullah terrorist-run TV station Al-Manar on its multi-continent network. Israeli terrorism experts at the Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center (ITIC) in Herzilya called THAICOM’s decision to broadcast the channel “an outrage,” saying Hizbullah would be able to spread its propaganda far more effectively with THAICOM’s help. Al-Manar is currently broadcast by two Arab stations and reaches most of the Middle East and some of Europe. THAICOM reaches viewers in Australia, Africa, Asia and most of Europe. Honor Killing In America
This was posted at JihadWatch.com which is one of my favorite news spots. I don't often write these Blogs myself, but post information pertaining to IslamoFacism and it's plans for world domination. The fate of the Free World lies in our hands TODAY. People need to wake up and pay attention to what has been happening in the world for over 30 years, with only the Isrealis to fight them up until the 9/11 attacks on America.

That's an honor killing, folks. It has everything to do with Islamic cultural attitudes. Discussion here. This is what American Muslim advocacy groups ought to be talking about, if they had an ounce of integrity, and any interest at all in promoting sane and humanistic values among Muslims and all people. Their constant finger-pointing, blame-shifting, and evasion of responsibility has a human cost: how many more honor killings are we going to see among Muslims in America before they own up to the reality of the practice and begin to teach against it? How many more is it going to take before government and law enforcement officials begin to pressure them to do so?
The correct answer should be -- why, no more. No more at all. Amina and Sarah Said should be alive today, and the idea that a man can walk around in Texas believing that it's perfectly right for him to murder his daughters because they are dating non-Muslims -- since, after all, it is perfectly fine to do that sort of thing back home in Egypt -- is abominable. It is monstrous.
Where is Hooper? Where is Al-Marayati? Where is Hussein Ibish? Where are the feminists?
Of course, the Muslim spokesmen will say, This has nothing to do with Islam. Logged and noted, thank you, gentlemen. Now: what are you and your organizations doing, or planning to do, to try to prevent Muslims like Yaser Abdel Said from thinking that this is a perfectly acceptable thing to do on Islamic grounds -- as, after all, seems to be the position of the Parliament in modern, moderate Jordan?

Sarah Said's final phone call rang into the Irving police dispatcher about 7:30 p.m. on New Year's Day: "I'm dying, I'm dying, I'm dying ..."
About an hour later, a man walked up to an orange cab parked at the Omni Mandalay Hotel in Irving. He discovered carnage – the bullet-shredded bodies of 17-year-old Sarah and 18-year-old Amina Said, honor students and athletes at Lewisville High School.
Almost immediately, police issued an arrest warrant for the girls' father, 50-year-old Yaser Said, an Egyptian-born cab driver who family members said was given to fits of violence, threats and gun-waving rants about how Western culture was corrupting the chastity of his daughters.
In the week since their murders, friends and relatives on Patricia Said's side of the family say they have been haunted by that final phone call, a cry for help that went unanswered for years. They say Mr. Said physically and emotionally abused his children.
In October 1998, when Amina and Sarah were 9 and 8 years old, they accused their father of sexual abuse.
The allegations were reported to the Hill County sheriff's office, where the girls told a detective their father had been touching them inappropriately. Amina told authorities she had been penetrated at least once.
Their mother swore in an affidavit that the allegations were true.
In early January 1999, the two girls told authorities that they had lied about the allegations because they didn't want to attend rural Covington schools and wanted to go live with their grandmother. A district judge later dropped the charges of aggravated sexual assault against Mr. Said.
George Burnett, a fire chief in the small town of Covington, visited the Saids' homestead a few times when their cows got out. He said the girls "were sent home several times from school with lice problems and asked not to return until they got it straightened out."

Mr. Said often espoused his version of traditional Middle Eastern values, prompting speculation the murders were "honor killings," an ancient Arab tribal custom in which the man of the family kills women he believes have shamed the family. The practice is now widely repudiated.
In a brief phone call in which she declined to comment further, his wife, Patricia, angrily rejected the notion that Mr. Said's Muslim religion or culture had anything to do with the murders.
Her son, Islam, 19, agreed.
"Why is it every time an Arab father kills a daughter, it's an honor killing?" Islam said. "It didn't have anything to do with that." He declined to answer other questions.

She said the abuse continued and threats intensified.

Move to Lewisville
Eventually, friends and family members say, Mr. Said moved his family from Euless to Lewisville to break up his daughter and her boyfriend. Some Muslims believe that it can be religiously acceptable for Muslim men to marry non-Muslim women but that it is never acceptable for a Muslim woman to marry outside the faith.
Friends said the sisters suffered quietly through a life controlled by their father, a life in which social interaction with their peers was forbidden. One friend said Mr. Said installed spy software on the home computer and plotted with a relative to tap the phone lines.
Sarah never shared her address with her closest friends for fear of what her father might say or do if they came by the house, said Zohair Zaidi, a devout Muslim whom Sarah turned to in her quest to become more religious.
This is the fellow who showed up here not too long ago. It seems now that it was indeed him who came here, although he remains the only source for any inclination on the girls' part to become more faithful Muslims -- and the non-Muslim boyfriends don't seem to have known about it either.
Still, Sarah knew her father would have disapproved of their friendship, primarily because Mr. Zaidi is male.
Ongoing threats
"She always used that term, 'He would kill me, I would be dead,' " said Mr. Zaidi, the 18-year-old college freshman. She kept his phone number under a female name in her cellphone.
Justin Finn, an 18-year-old senior at Lewisville High School, said Amina told him her father walked into her bedroom with a gun about two years ago.
"He was basically threatening her and waving around the gun," he said. "He was basically trying to send a message, 'You do what I say or I'm going to do something to you.' "
Relatives say the girls kept much of their lives hidden from their father. Amina had been awarded a $20,000 scholarship for college. Sarah dreamed of a job in the medical profession.
"School was everything to them. That was their way out. They were active in sports. That's what made them happy," said the girls' aunt, Jean Martinez.
Massoud Nasseri, owner of King Cab, has known Mr. Said for a number of years.
He described him as a good father and a decent man.
He said Muslim children who are born here or spend most of their lives here are "caught between a rock and a hard place." They want to do what their parents want, but they also want to follow their friends.
"They always battle within themselves about what they need to do," he said. "I call it the clash of the culture and that's what it comes down to. The kids were born here and part of their blood is Muslim, part of their blood is Christian, and they are caught in between."
Running away
By December, both of his daughters were dating, and tempers were boiling.
"Me mina and my mom r running away!" Sarah Said wrote to Mr. Zaidi in an instant message conversation, according to a transcript he saved. "My dad found out abt mina and is goin to kill us."
Mr. Zaidi was concerned. He asked his friend whether her father had threatened harm.
"B4 he tld me that he was goin to put bullet thru her head...today he tld me to get used to my sis bc shes not goin to b w us lng," she wrote.
Mr. Zaidi never knew where the Saids were going. Sarah was too afraid to tell him, he said.
On Christmas Day, Mrs. Said, her daughters and their boyfriends fled the state. They stopped at a relative's house in Kansas and then rented an apartment under an assumed name in Tulsa.
Mr. Said had filed a missing persons report with Lewisville police on Dec. 26.
Mrs. Said called Lewisville police Dec. 27 to tell them she and her daughters were safe. The report reads:
"Patricia stated that she was not going to call back again, as she was in great fear of her life. Patricia said she is very fearful of her husband harming her and/or her children, which is the reason she left her husband. Patricia further advised she and her children, Sarah and Amina, are just fine, and are going to continue hiding from her husband."
The next day an officer filed a reported recommending the case be closed, citing an interview with one of Mrs. Said's relatives.
"Patricia had told her that since they are Muslim that the daughter was only allowed to date other Muslims. Yaser had found out she went on a date with a non-Muslim and became very angry and threatened her with bodily harm. This concerned Patricia because Yaser has been violent in the past and Patricia was afraid that Yaser would severely hurt their daughter. At that time Patricia decided it would be best to leave her husband and take their daughters and go into hiding."
On New Year's Eve, Mrs. Said and her daughters returned to Lewisville. Amina told her aunt that her mother lied to her, saying the trip was to put flowers on their grandmother's grave. Mrs. Said told police she felt guilty about leaving her husband.
Sarah wore a brown sweatshirt with yellow puppies when she left with her dad to go to dinner on New Year's Day. Amina had on a tan hooded jacket with fur trim, similar to one she's wearing in a photo on her MySpace page. A headline on the page reads: "I don't want to ... become a memory."
Later that night, a dispatcher at the Irving Police Department picked up a 911 cellphone call from Sarah. The police report reads: "Female kept saying she was dying over and over again."
